THERE WILL BE TWO INFORMATIONAL SESSIONS FOR POTENTIAL STUDENTS TO ATTEND. ATTENDANCE TO ONE OF THESE SESSIONS IS MANDATORY. SESSIONS ARE SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 25TH, 0800-1100 AND APRIL 26TH, 1800-2100. POTENTIAL STUDENTS UNABLE TO ATTEND ONE OF THESE SESSIONS SHALL CONTACT LT. JORDAN COLEMAN at jordan.coleman@fauquiercounty.gov TO REQUEST EXCUSAL AND TO SCHEDULE A TIME TO GO OVER THE INFORMATION. THESE SESSIONS WILL BE HELD AT THE SIM-LAB AT THE NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY.

a PRE-Requisite pre-test will be given THE WEEK OF mAY 13TH.  All Participants in this course MUST ATTEND the pre-test and score a 72% or better to continue in the program.

You MUST Bring Your IMmunization Record with you to the Pre-TEst for review. If you show up without it, you are ineligible for the class. MORE INFORMATION ON THIS WILL BE PROVIDED DURING THE INFORMATIONAL SESSION.

tHE COURSE HAS A MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT OF 12. THOSE 12 WILL BE SELECTED THROUGH THE APPLICATION PROCESS AS LISTED IN THE TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT. 

Course Description:

The Advanced EMT course gives students the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to progress to the next level of provider. This program builds on the knowledge and skills obtained from EMT certification. Human systems, pathophysiology, patient assessment, IV fluid management, pharmacology and basic skills are some of the primary areas for this course. The Fauquier County Fire Rescue System is accredited by the Virginia Office of EMS. The course will be open to candidates who meet the prerequisites. As part of that, a pretest must be completed to proceed with application process. As part of this course, students will be required to complete in-hospital clinical time, as well as field clinical time. Students will need to be able to meet the requirements of the clinical sites. Clinical sites are currently Fauquier Hospital and Fauquier County Fire Rescue System.
