Course Time(s): Monday 0800-1800 hours

Course Description: Firefighter 1 & 2 train the trainer provides the guidance necessary for delivering a quality Firefighter 1 & 2 1001-19 edition programs. The material covers the Administrative Guidelines for Firefighter 1 & 2, overviews the two (2) approved curriculums, reviews the resource package, and the classroom and practical material as well as review of testing procedures.  During the train the trainer, the process for new candidates shall be clearly explained and includes time to answer questions related to this program delivery. All candidates must attend 100% of this program.

The components of the train the trainer for Firefighter I & II 1001-19 edition are:

Classroom session – Review of the program, paperwork, skills, and student teach back. Field Instruction – Demonstrate knowledge of the FF 1 & 2 program delivery and Knowledge of Instructor related information.  This is accomplished with Instructor teach backs during in person train the trainer and validation of shadow time* by jurisdiction.

Post-test - The Firefighter 1 & 2 Train the Trainer NFPA-1001-19 Standard.  Contains thirty-five questions from NFPA-1001-13 that came from SCBA, Ground Ladders, Forcible Entry, Search, Interior Attack, Horizontal Ventilation, Vertical Ventilation, Extinguishers, and Hose JPR's.  Fifteen questions from the NFPA-1041-12 Standards with at least one question for each of the Instructor I JPR's.

Classroom Shadow time – minimum classroom instruction two subject’s affidavit submitted to Division Chief signed by Instructor that verified instructional time. Completion of Live Fire Training Practical as live fire crew leader, signed off by an Instructor with current VDFP FF 1 & 2 TtT.
