COURSE: Volunteer Fire Academy


Course Description:

The Fauquier County Volunteer Fire Academy encompasses the Virginia Department of Fire Programs curriculums for the following courses. Emergency Vehicle Operator 1, 2, 3, Hazardous Materials Operations, Firefighter 1 & 2, Mayday Firefighter Down, Introduction to Technical Rescue Awareness (online), Low Angle Rope Rescue Operations and, Passenger Vehicle Extrication Operations/Technician The courses achieved through this academy meet and/or exceed the education and certification required for operational personnel to meet the standard contained within Fauquier County Fire and Rescue Operating Policy 113 “Uniform Rank” IDLH Released Firefighter.


Prerequisites: Students MUST present a photo ID on the first day of class which confirms them to be 16 years of age. No individuals under the age of 16 shall be permitted to attend this academy. All students are required to be a member of a state recognized fire department.

 

Equipment Required: Full Structural Firefighting Personal Protective Ensemble

NOTES: Per Virginia Fire Programs administrative guidelines, students are permitted to be absent from no more than 10% of the course curriculum for Hazmat and FF courses. All missed instructional hours must be made up with a certified instructor to receive credit.
