Registration

The Fauquier County Fire Rescue Lieutenant Promotional Process is a promotional testing/evaluation process that will be used to establish an eligibility list for expected promotions within the department to the level of Lieutenant.  The list will be valid for a period of 18 months from the last dates of completion of the total process, (there will be additional steps that will be required to complete) typically, the final step will be an interview with the fire rescue chief.  Registering for this promotional process is the initial step for consideration for promotion and will be followed by additional steps.

To be eligible for promotion each Lieutenant Candidate must attend and participate in the final evaluation day of the Lieutenant’s School to be held on November 17th and 18th, 2015.  Candidates will be required to attend one of these two sessions being offered. Candidates will be examined based upon the materials presented in the Lieutenant’s School.  This is one element of the total evaluation for promotion.  Candidate need only sign up for one of the two dates listed.

Additionally, to remain consistent with past practice and in keeping pace with current EMS regulations the following special conditions will be applied: 

  • Completion of a College level English course (from an accredited institution (must be completed within 1 year of appointment)
  • Completion of a Fire Officer I course (VDFP/Pro Board must be completed within 1 year of appointment)
  •  Completion of a Fire Instructor I course (VDFP/Pro Board must be completed within 1 year of appointment)
  • Virginia EMS Certification of EMT or higher.
