COURSE: Fire Academy #2019-31

Course Description: A course designed for the Firefighter I who is prepared to assume more of a leadership role in a department. Course consists primarily of classes designed to give the student more knowledge of fire ground situations so that he or she can make basic evaluations of safety problems and assume leadership roles in carrying out interior attack and search operations. This course is required to meet Fauquier County Uniform Rank. Course may include several required independent study classes. Module testing will occur throughout the course to prepare the student for State of VA testing, also ensuring knowledge retention.

 

Prerequisites: Firefighter I & Hazmat Operations. Students must be at least 16 years of age in order to complete all aspects of the course. Minors must comply with all Junior Firefighters pre-requisites as defined by Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) standards. All students must be affiliated with a volunteer fire company, Out of County students must have a letter ensuring insurance coverage current volunteer agency.

 

Equipment Required: Structural Firefighting Turnout Gear (Must be in date for any live fire training) Extrication Gloves, Safety Glasses, Valid FIT Test for SCOTT AV 3000 HT Facepiece, SCOTT AV3000 Facepiece OR own facepiece and SCBA with a valid FIT Test.

TIMES: 1830–2230 on Mon. & Wed.; Sat. 0900-1700 

Some Saturday's may start at 0800 depending on class on location.

 

LOCATION: Training Center, Basement of EMS 1
